Program Notes: “Oasis†begins with “Escaping The City†evoking with jazzy counterpoint the tensions, bright lights and traffic jams of city-life. Next movement “Across The Desert†is a lyrical journey through the dunes with interlocking syncopations that mimic the curious gait of a camel. We celebrate arrival at the Oasis with a rollicking “Danza Ritmicaâ€, loosely based on an Israeli folk dance. The last note features a playful bell-ring. This is followed by “The Falcon Flies Freeâ€, depicting the release of a symbolic bird, soaring above the noisy turmoils of the world, in hopes of freedom. The final movement is a profound wish for peace: “Prayer.†May it be so.
